How to Export Chat GPT History (Quick Video Guide)

Have you been using the Chat GPT (chat.open.ai) platform for awhile? If so, you’ve probably got a lot of chat files in your left menu.

Occasionally, the platform can glitch and delete your chat history. This would be awful especially if you have lots of good prompts developed for specific tasks you like to do on a regular basis, or you have your brand guide and tone of voice instructions etc.

Below is a quick video guide to show you how to export ALL your chat file history to your computer to preserve your data files.

Step 1: Click the 3 dots in the bottom left next to your account name to open the menu.

Step 2: Click on SETTINGS in the left menu

Step 3: Click on the DATA CONTROLS, then click EXPORT

Step 4: Then click the green CONFIRM EXPORT button

Step 5: Next go to your email account and click the DOWNLOAD DATA EXPORT zipfile

Step 6: Extract the zipfile contents, then open the HTML Chat file to view your chat file history.
